Job Developer / Employer Liaison

The successful candidate will have a diploma or degree in areas of Human/Social Services, Employment/Career Counselling and/or Marketing/Business, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a related field.  Demonstrated success in marketing, sales, job developing or recruitment is required.  Experience working with the unemployed in a job development capacity would be considered an asset.  Candidates should be confident in their skills and be committed to maintaining a high level of professionalism.  This is a one year contract position with the potential for long term extension, and includes a 37.5 hour work week.  This position entails service provision throughout Northumberland County, and Peterborough and Durham regions.

Required Responsibilities/Qualifications:

  • Conduct outreach/recruitment/cold calls to employers
  • Establish collaborative relationships with employers
  • Attend business events/functions in the community
  • Be knowledgeable regarding career assessment, labour market research and job search techniques
  • Develop various job development resources; facilitate workshops
  • Conduct employability assessments for Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) clients
  • Manage case files and facilitate client follow up
  • Initiate and maintain accurate and timely documentation of employer/client contacts, job leads and all job development activity
  • Perform job development for harder-to-serve clients
  • Develop training plans and agreements including negotiating financial incentives
  • Monitor placements/job trials to support successful employment
  • Provide job coaching and job retention support
  • Access the hidden job market to generate job leads
  • Match job requirements with client skills
  • Market clients to employers; advocate on the client’s behalf
  • Assist clients in preparing for employment interviews
